This component is led by the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia and aims to further develop and strengthen the institutional capacities of border control agencies in Central Asian countries to achieve international standards and best practices in ensuring national, regional and global security. The activities will contribute to improving the overall operational capacities of border controls in the region and provide ad hoc support to the regional border demarcation process, where applicable.
In addition, as a part of the Integrated border management concept, the capacity building activities aimed at preventing the spread of infectious diseases will be part of all activities that contribute to the improved public health and security situation in the country. Similar approaches will be applied while implementing activities on crisis management by incorporating specific measures related to prevention and the fight against the spread of infectious diseases at the state border.
