From February 24 to March 3, the Border Management Programme in Central Asia held a regional online training course on the Project Management Cycle for 30 representatives of Central Asian non-governmental organisations (NGOs) working in border areas. The course was a part of the “Improvement of cross-border cooperation” thematic area of the Programme, aimed at contributing to better living conditions in border areas through local economic development and support to vulnerable groups.
The training course improved the capacities of the Central Asian NGOs to develop project proposals and to identify suitable donor organisations, to improve the capacities to implement projects and to monitor projects results. The participants got acquainted with the basic concepts, methods and tools of fundraising, types of donors, technologies of project planning, targeting, problem analysis and other important issues in project development and implementation. The training course supported participants’ systemic project management skills, thus further enhancing the important role that NGOs play in supporting local communities in the border regions of Central Asia.
Later within the Programme’s Component 4, NGOs will get an opportunity to apply for European Union funding to implement projects in the border areas of the Central Asian countries. The main objective of the funding opportunity will be to improve living conditions in border areas through local economic development, with a focus on human rights, gender equality and vulnerable groups.
