On April 24 the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) officially handed over IT equipment and body cameras to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, accounting for a total value of 54,457.00 EUR.
12 sets of “Zebra” tablets with software, 25 body cameras and chargers, and 3 items of Doc IDs were handed over, and will be used by MIA staff to improve the quality of service to the population, prevent crime and offenses in the border areas as well as to raise the quality of evidence-based investigations. The equipment will record offenses and crimes in real time, and it will thus be possible to respond quicker to crimes and conflict situations, and to take measures to protect the rights of the population.
These assets were purchased in the framework of BOMCA 10 Component 2, “Improvement of Detection Capacities”, aimed at improvement of law enforcement controls to increase risk and profiling capacities and ensure the rule of law within the territory of Kyrgyzstan, e.g. in border zones.
