In Dushanbe, BOMCA 10 organised technical assistance (TA) on elaboration of Standard operational procedure for phytosanitary and veterinary (SPS) import control, gathering representatives of the Tajik SPS agencies responsible for the development and/or implementation of import controls.
This BOMCA 10 activity in Tajikistan is aimed to introduce or improve modern working methods and other tools for SPS institutions of Central Asian countries and develop a General standard operational procedure for inspectors, applicable for practical inspections of consignments as well as during primary training.
As per the activity’s expected results, it is foreseen enhanced consistency and effectiveness of control procedures for goods entering Central Asian countries, as well as strengthening the capacity of CA countries' SPS authorities to conduct effective controls on imported and exported goods, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and protecting public health.
This activity opens a series of national activities in the region – similar workshops will be implemented in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
