In Uzbekistan, the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) officially handed over specific equipment aimed at supporting the self-employed women of the Karakalpakstan, located on the Uzbek-Kazakh border area, accounting for a total value of 5,847.82 EUR.
The procured items included for a beauty salon, as well as sewing and embroidery machines. The equipment will help women to set up and run their own businesses and support their families. This procurement has been implemented within the framework of the BOMCA 10 Component 4, «Improvement of Cross-Border Cooperation», which aims at improving living conditions in border areas through local economic development, with a focus on human rights, gender equality and vulnerable groups.
The above-mentioned items were procured by the BOMCA Programme through the coordination and support of the self-employed women of the Committee on Women and Family Affairs of Uzbekistan.
