On February 14, 2023 the Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) held a regional online workshop in Dushanbe on distance learning about border management in Tajikistan and countering irregular migration from Afghanistan for representatives of the law enforcement agencies engaged in the border management of Central Asian countries.
This activity aimed to raise awareness among participants on the prevention of cross-border crime from/through Afghanistan.
With this objective, the representative of the Training Centre of the Border Troops of the National Security Committee of Tajikistan has delivered a training course on the specifics of control at the border checkpoints, and the most problematic aspects of Tajik-Afghan border management.
After completing the programme, participants received the basic knowledge about the risks and signs of cross-border crime from / to Afghanistan, as well as the potential of the Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan to counter these risks.
Next to addressing knowledge on the topic and polishing training skills, this workshop is a practical example of the regional cooperation among the training institutions. This activity takes place in line with the action plan on e-learning and support of exchange of trainers for 2022-2023 adopted by the Consortium of the Training institutions of Central Asia during its working session organised by BOMCA in March 2022.
It is conducted in the framework of Component 1, “Institutional Development of Border Control Agencies”, aimed at the further development and strengthening of the institutional capacities of border control agencies in Central Asian countries to achieve international standards and best practices in ensuring national, regional and global security.
