From April 15 to 17, the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) in cooperation with USAID Trade Central Asia Activity, held a workshop in Bishkek on transit guarantee system and guarantee management for the representatives of State Customs Service of Kyrgyzstan.
The activity intended to present and discuss application of different guaranty types (such as TIR guarantee, financial guarantee, other approaches) in Kyrgyzstan, European Union and regional transit countries.
Experts from Customs Board of the State Revenue Service of Latvia and USAID introduced the ways to reduce overall administrative burden on the Customs Service by using guarantee system opportunities.
In addition, the workshop was followed by interactive discussions to develop recommendations for further improvement and balancing the interests of economic operators with proper customs control. As a result of conducted exchange of information, the recommendations to promote the customs guarantee system will be elaborated.
