BOMCA 10 supports the authorities of the Republic of Tajikistan in updating the national border management strategy

On 2 – 5 December, in Dushanbe, the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) organised a seminar on integrated border management and assessment of the National Border Management Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The seminar was organised by the BOMCA 10 programme jointly with the OSCE Office in Dushanbe, UNHCR, and the IOM Mission in Tajikistan.

The workshop aimed to support the authorities of Tajikistan in updating the National Border Management Strategy and its Implementation Plan. The activity presented EU best practices in the field of border security, as well as modern mechanisms for cooperation and risk analysis in border security.

The participants expanded their knowledge of international best practices in implementation of the principles of integrated border management (IBM) and long-term planning issues, discussed the benefits of the risk analysis system, and the successful implementation of IBM, as well as familiarised themselves with the achievements of the National Border Management Strategy 2010-2025.

The activity was organised within the framework of Component 1, “Institutional Development of Border Control Agencies”, and aims to further develop and strengthen the institutional capacities of border control agencies in Central Asian countries to achieve international standards and best practices in ensuring national, regional and global security.
