BOMCA 10 supports development of standard operating procedure for phytosanitary and veterinary import control in Central Asian countries

On 20-22 November in Astana and 25-27 November in Bishkek, BOMCA 10 organized technical assistance mission on development of standard operating procedure for veterinary and phytosanitary import controls gathering representatives of veterinary and phytosanitary services of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

The activity aimed to introduce and improve modern working methods and other tools in the work of phyto- and veto control services of Central Asian countries and to develop a common SOP for inspectors, applicable for practical inspections of cargo as well as during primary training of staff.

The technical assistance will result in enhanced consistency and effectiveness of control procedures for goods entering Central Asian countries through strengthened capacity of phytosanitary and veterinary authorities to conduct effective controls on imported and exported goods, standardised control procedures based on EU practices and improved training of inspectors of responsible agencies.
