On 12 March, in Dushanbe, the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) handed over advanced digital forensics equipment valued at EUR 66,082.40 to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The supplied software licenses MOBILedit Forensic PRO, computers and connection kit with cables will enable investigators to recover deleted, hidden or encrypted data from digital devices such as smartphones, computers and storage media, helping law enforcement agencies investigate cross-border crimes, including drug and weapon trafficking. Additionally, the tools will enhance capabilities in tackling cybercrime, including hacking, online fraud and data breaches. By providing access to crucial communication records, location data and other digital traces, the technology will assist investigators in uncovering and dismantling criminal networks operating across borders. The integration of these tools will streamline the investigative process, saving valuable time and resources while ensuring the integrity of collected evidence.
Strengthening the operational effectiveness of investigative units in Dushanbe and other regions of Tajikistan will significantly contribute to combating complex criminal cases, particularly those involving cross-border activities. This support was provided under Component 2 of BOMCA 10, aimed at enhancing law enforcement capacities to conduct evidence-based investigations.
