On August 15 the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) officially handed over ICT and specialised equipment to several agencies of the Republic of Uzbekistan for a total value of 213 352 EUR.
Border Troops of the State Security Service of Uzbekistan were equipped with the following passport verification devices: sets of “Regula” passport readers, sets of document authenticity verification device, 1003M-14 compact magnifying lens. The total value of the equipment is 154 050 EUR. The provided equipment will be used for document authentication and identity verification at the first line check at the Border Crossing Points with Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
Customs Institute of the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan received ICT equipment in the amount of 39 070 EUR. This includes, server with software - workstation for the educational process management information system, server with software for complex information systems for multimedia visualisation of the educational process, LCD video wall, timetable software, printer and binding machine. Enhanced technical capacities will help organise the educational process on the basis of modern information and communication technologies, introduce innovative forms and methods of training, improve the procedure for practical training, ensuring the connection of theoretical training with the practical activities of customs authorities.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Internal Affairs received computers for a total value of 20 231 EUR.
It is worth noting that these items were purchased by BOMCA 10 to further strengthen the technical basis of the respective agencies to address border management priorities, which in its turn supports the achievement of results under the BOMCA programme.
