On 13 December, the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) handed over cutting-edge biometric equipment valued at EUR 25,305 to the Forensic Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic.
This equipment will be used by mobile teams for forensic examinations at crime scenes involving particularly serious offenses. 7 palm print scanners equipped with advanced technology will enhance the speed and accuracy of fingerprint and palm print identification, gradually replacing outdated methods and significantly cutting data processing time.
The equipment was provided under BOMCA 10 Component 2, "Improvement of Detection Capacities", which aims to support law enforcement agencies in evidence-based investigations through the modernisation of investigative processes related to cross-border crimes.
