On May 28-31, a series of expert consultations on risk analysis and development of new anti- smuggling tools were held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. A group of BOMCA experts - customs forensic specialists from the Ministry of Finance of Lithuania arrived in Uzbekistan to assess the existing risk management system at Uzbekistan’s customs and its compliance with international practices and standards, and to develop recommendations for further development and improvement of the system.
The working group analyzed the main documents regulating risk management in the Uzbek customs, studied the risk management and information analysis system, and evaluated the development of risk profiles and their effectiveness. The stages of declaring and processing of declarations, as well as the interconnection between risk management system and customs clearance were considered in details in practice during the visit to the checkpoint.
Using the findings and results of this advisory mission, the experts will prepare a package of recommendations for the further development and improvement of the risk management system in Uzbekistan’s customs in order to its better compliance with international practices and standards.
