BOMCA has introduced a distance learning tool in Kyrgyzstan to be used in the education and retraining of border guards. On 3 November, at the European Union Delegation in Kyrgyzstan, the system was officially handed over and its capabilities and advantages presented to the State Border Service and Military Armed Forces Institute. A test connection between Kyrgyzstan and Latvia was made and the first pilot lecture was conducted by Border Guard College in Rezekne, Latvia.
The system will interconnect the Training Centre of the State Border Service, the Military Armed Forces Institute, the Border Guard College in Latvia and Riga Technical University. The first pilot distance lecture, “Radiation and Nuclear Security”, was delivered to the Military Institute trainees by lecturers at the Border College in Rezekne.
Videoconferencing and lessons via video will provide students and teachers with an immersive, innovative learning experience that combines high-definition video and audio tools - officers and teachers will be able to connect to students in real time, without physically attending the classroom. The system will allow the State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic, its Training Centre in Osh and the Military Institute to connect to each other and also receive guest video lectures from abroad.
