The completed first Call for Proposals and the results of the projects implemented at the time of publication of the brochure allow us to assess their impact and present success stories.

For example, in Kazakhstan, the Public Association “Zan Talaby Center for Legal Protection” provided legal support and raised awareness of vulnerable groups in Shymkent and Turkestan region to reduce irregular migration and human trafficking. And the public association “Society of Women Small Entrepreneurs” focused on raising awareness about safe and regular migration in Kyzylorda region, paying special attention to migrant women.

Four Kyrgyz NGOs focused on supporting regions with high levels of emigration, such as the Chui and Talas regions in the north, bordering Kazakhstan, and the Batken and Osh regions in the south, bordering Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. The Public Foundation ‘Global Change Fund’ has expanded the opportunities of vulnerable families in border villages to increase their incomes through modern green entrepreneurship, and has also organized awareness-raising activities to reduce irregular migration. The public association ‘Dialogue, Trust, Law’ not only expanded the economic opportunities of women who were left without support due to the migration of their spouses, but also provided psychological support to their children through special training of social educators in schools. The Public Foundation ‘Childhood Institute’ has also increased the potential of social educators in providing support to children left behind by their parents due to migration.

The projects were aimed at supporting and empowering the populations of the border areas who are most vulnerable, such as migrants and their families, victims of human trafficking, women, youth and children.
