From July 5-7, the Border Management Programme in Central Asia organised a technical assistance mission on inter-agency cooperation between Customs and Phytosanitary, Veterinary services involved in border control at border checking points. The assistance is targeted at the representatives of the Agency of Plant Protection and Quarantine, State Committee of Veterinary and Livestock Development and State Customs Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

From 4-5 July, 2022 the Border Management Programme in Central Asia organised a series of bilateral meetings with the Kyrgyz state authorities dealing with migration and border management, as well as local governance, followed by a Round Table “Roadmap for the Study on Cross-Border Circular Migration in Fergana Valley” in Bishkek to re-confirm the priority topics and the way forward for the Study.

From 29 to 30 June, the Border Management Programme in Central Asia organised a technical assistance mission to Dushanbe on the development and implementation of a distance learning concept and equipping the training facilities of the Customs Administration of Tajikistan. The European expert team was represented by an expert on information technologies, the Head of the Information Technology Department of Riga Business School and an expert on organization of training, the Professor of the International Business and Customs Institute of Riga Technical University.

From June 29 to 30, 2022 the Border Management Programme in Central Asia organised a two-day training on gender for the female staff of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan and female employees of Tashkent International Airport.

From 27 June to 1^st July, the Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA) in partnership with Law Enforcement in Central Asia Project (LEICA) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Programme for Central Asia (UNODC) held a training of trainers (ToT) in Almaty on identification and profiling techniques for experts from law enforcement agencies of Kazakhstan. The training enhanced the knowledge and skills in the methodology of identification and profiling of foreign terrorist fighters, irregular migrants and drug traffickers.

From 20 till 24 June, the Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA) in partnership with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Programme for Central Asia (UNODC) and Law Enforcement in Central Asia Project (LEICA) held a training of trainers (ToT) on identification and profiling techniques for experts from law enforcement agencies of Kyrgyzstan. The training enhanced the knowledge and skills in the methodology of identification and profiling of foreign terrorist fighters, irregular migrants and drug traffickers.

From June 21-23, 2022, the Border Management Programme in Central Asia organised a technical assistance mission to Tashkent, in the form of a national workshop for the Uzbek specialists responsible for planning, development and implementation as well as further maintenance and improvement of the customs declaration systems, digitalisation and automation of customs processes and declaration systems, analysis of business processes and defining user requirements for the improvements. The workshop was devoted to the improvement of customs processes and e-services, related to the electronic submission and processing of customs documents, as well as the development of Single Window.

From 20 to 23 June, the Border Management Programme in Central Asia organised a study visit to the Republic of Lithuania for senior level officers of the investigation units of the border guards, law enforcement agencies, prosecutors’ offices, national security agencies from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
